"Dare to reach out your hand into the darkness, to pull another hand into the light." ~Norman B. Rice
The aim of The Bhakti Soul Fund is to serve; together we raise spiritual awareness and financial support for many different kinds of things: direct, local help to community members in need, for the monastery and misson of our dear friend Swami B.V. Tripurari and his teaching, and many other non-profit organizations that foster social justice, awareness, spirituality and environmental stewardship. Through many different kinds of events, classes, and offerings at The Bhaktishop and beyond, we receive donations that are distributed on a monthly basis. We are delighted to be of service to the community and to the greater goal of fostering higher consciousness in this way, and hope that you will join us for class, kirtan, or any of our special by-donation events soon!
This month's kirtan recipient
For the short and sweet month of February, our second Sunday kirtan is in support of Baby Blues Connection, a local organization that was founded in 1991 by Wendy Davis in response to her own need to connect with others while going through postpartum after the birth of her son. Since then Baby Blues Connection has become nonprofit providing a lifeline for many women and their families locally and around the nation. Baby Blues Connection provides a warmline, multiple groups, resources for support practitioners specializing in perinatal and postpartum mood disorders, trainings in how to assist women and their families and a community that is linked into the international nonprofit Postpartum Support International. You can see more information here http://www.babybluesconnection.org/bbc/ We look forward to seeing your faces and hearing your voices! Sunday, Feb 12 6-8pm!
Donation Classes
Support Megie Shean
For the months of January and February, our donation classes support our student Megie Shean, as she takes a deeper dive into her own teaching practice by attending the Frontiers of Trauma Treatment workshop at the Kripalu Center. The workshop's foundation is yoga and mindfulness meditation, and includes current research on trauma, and the imprints of trauma held in the body and the brain. By supporting Megie through attending our weekly donation classes, you are contributing to the further study how how yoga continues to help us traverse the sometimes difficult waters of the human experience. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesdays at 7pm, Wednesdays at 4pm, and Fridays at 4pm!
Please email us at soulfund@thebhakthshop.com if you have questions about being a recipient, we are happy to help in any way we can.
