For teachers and students alike, Yoga Tune Up® is a therapy format built around the three P's – Pain, Posture and Performance. It helps eradicate pain, improve posture and enhance performance through a unique blend of Corrective Exercise, Self Massage and Yoga. By helping to identify and target your "body blind spots"; areas that are most overused, underused, or misused, YTU heals damaged muscle, increases strength and establishes healthy movement patterns to help you live better in your body.

Friday Night: Yoga Tune Up®: Refine Your Spine

Back pain strikes most people at some point in their lives, even yoga and fitness professionals. Correct spinal alignment involves multiple layers of coordinated core activity coupled with proper breathing mechanics. Become fluent in your spinal anatomy from the deep multifidus, psoas and diaphragm, to the more superficial lattisimus and rectus abdominals. This workshop identifies spinal "blind spots," and reconditions them with new therapeutic moves. Learn to thoroughly prepare your spine from every conceivable angle. This workshop will give you a new backbone!

Saturday Afternoon: Yoga Tune Up® Shoulder Shape Up

If Downward Dog, Plank or Chaturanga has ever felt disjointed in your body, you are not alone. Shoulder joint biomechanics are some of the most complex anatomical riddles for a body to fully comprehend. In this workshop you will learn exercises from fitness therapeutics that will awaken new kinetic chains, re-pattern a “new normal” and help you customize poses to fit your own unique architecture. Also included is a YTU Therapy Ball self -massage sequence for rotator cuff relief! Students of any level are welcome.

Sunday Afternoon: YOGA TUNE UP®/Training: The Science of Rolling

The Science of Rolling empowers you to personally adopt and teach simple and effective self-myofascial release regimens. Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls can be used as an adjunct offering within personal training sessions, stretch, Pilates, wellness coaching, yoga, massage therapy, kids or special populations. These on-the-go balls can be used in a variety of settings; offices, homes, gyms and yoga/Pilates studios.

You will learn 6 head-to-toe series proven to affect profound change in the rotator cuff, upper back, neck, jaw, hips, lower back, IT Band, calves and feet. You will also learn to identify bony landmarks, muscular and connective tissue junctions, fascia geography, pain physiology and specialized ball rolling techniques that penetrate into common high-tension areas.

Detailed visual guides and a series of audio CD’s are yours to take home to enable you to easily replicate the therapeutic sequences detailed in this training.

8 elective hours for 300 Hour students

Trina Altman, E-RYT 500, PMA®-CPT, STOTT PILATES® certified instructor, leads teacher trainings in Yoga Tune Up®, the Roll Model® Method and Rx Series for Equinox locally and internationally. She is the creator of Pilates Deconstructed™ an innovative interdisciplinary approach that fosters an embodied understanding of Pilates and its relationship to modern movement science.
