Mantra Mālā: Timeless Sanskrit Chants from Yoga’s Sacred Traditions with Joshua Michaell

Saturday and Sunday November 12-13 from 3-7pm

$140 both days

Join us for the return of our celebrated, funny, and skilled Sanskrit wizard, Joshua Michaell, as he brings us on another chanting, pronunciation, meditation, and philosophy journey through the joys and amazement of the Sanskrit language!

Since ancient times, the practice of yoga has included the chanting of Sanskrit mantras to harmonize and balance the mind and to induce calm and clarity in meditation. In this workshop, we will explore a selection of profound and powerful ancient chants from Yoga’s great traditions, savoring the sublime beauty of Sanskrit sound and vibration. Chants will include a morning prayer to the Goddess, a traditional mealtime prayer, plus a cornucopia of sublimely beautiful sutras, shlokas, mantra and invocations from the Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Ramayana, Hitopadesa, Vairagya Shatakam, Ramana Maharshi, etc. This class will be a lot of fun, and no experience with chanting or Sanskrit is necessary.  If you love chanting and are ready to dive in a little deeper, this is the fantastic voyage for you. There will be different material than the Springtime courses, so even if you have already taken one of those, please do join us.
