Learn, explore and contemplate in good company and conversation a few of the main sacred texts of Yoga with Lisa Mae and some guest teachers; select readings from The Upanishads, The Bhagavad Gita, The Yoganjalisaram, Skill In Action: Radicalizing Your Yoga Practice To Create A Just World, and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Best studied and learned in conversation, we will explore these teachings from the bhakti and karma yoga perspectives, and discuss the main paths of transcendence as taught by the various yogic traditions. Learn to recognize what you are reading, and how to recognize who is speaking and what their tradition might be, so as to better understand their angle of vision. Critical thinking, experience, and practical wisdom combine in this 20-unit course for anyone that has ever been curious or interested in the foundations of yoga philosophy.
