All proceeds of our Sunday 11am classes with Linnea for the month of January will be donated to Portland Equity in Action's Stolen Angels PDX Billboard Project.
Why PEA's Stolen Angels PDX Billboard Project?
Portland Equity in Action (PEA) is a local community action group comprised of individuals with a range of professional skills and resources, dedicated to building racial equity in Portland. Our purpose is to confront and disrupt the rampant complacency in this city regarding issues of white supremacy and racial inequity. We aim to create a public demand for change to the inequitable structure of our society, through stimulating and challenging visual campaigns.
PEA started as a small Racial Equity work group in early 2017. Since then, we have grown into a highly motivated, and independently functioning grassroots organization; pursuing racial equity both through our direct work in the community and within the organizational structure in which we operate.
In July of 2017, we connected with Shiloh Wilson-Phelps, Irene Kalonji, and Donna Hayes to help advance their collective vision of honoring their boys by replicating Michael Bell Sr’s successful Wisconsin-based campaign. Working in partnership with these mothers and grandmothers, the Stolen Angels PDX Billboard Project was born. Since then, we’ve proudly welcomed the additions of Alicia Johnson, Larnell Bruce Sr., Natasha Bruce, Christina Mines, and the fiscal sponsorship of Don’t Shoot Portland.
All you have to do is come to class, we will do the rest.
