Join us for class with Maneena every Tuesday at 4pm throughout the month of April for the Compassionate Resistance Campaign, an opportunity for us to gather and give in the name of justice and hope. You can simply come to class, you can donate to the jar on the desk, and we will do the rest.
This month we are supporting Oregon's sanctuary movement, with all proceeds going to the Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice (IMIRJ) supporting sanctuary across the state of Oregon. Go to www.imirj.org for more details.
Why did we choose IMIrJ?
They are an organization made up individuals, faith leaders and diverse faith communities called by their conscience to respond actively and publicly to the suffering of our immigrant brothers and sisters in the U.S. Through advocacy and outreach, they educate the community about the injustices current immigration policies inflict on the entire community and provide real opportunities to take action for change. Just as they open our hearts to provide welcome and accompaniment to people facing persecution and oppression, they open their doors to offer Sanctuary for immigrants faced with family separation.
IMIrJ is part of a vibrant network of groups working for immigrant justice across Oregon and the Northwest region. Their partners include:
- American Friends Service Committee
- Basic Rights Oregon
- The Church Council of Greater Seattle
- Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon
- Migrant Collective
- Northwest Workers' Justice Project
- Oregon DreamActivist
- Portland Central America Solidarity Committee
- Portland Immigrants Rights Coalition (PIRC)
- Portland Jobs With Justice
- Portland Ready
- UNITE Oregon
